Make-Up Studio – Ecommerce Platform Maintenance & Security

Make-Up Studio is a makeup product ecommerce platform built with CodeIgniter, jQuery, and Bootstrap, offering online shopping for professional makeup and cosmetic products.

I was responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance, debugging, custom offer implementation, deployment, hosting, and application security of the platform.

Problem

The existing application had several issues that required ongoing technical attention. The platform contained application-level vulnerabilities, including sensitive order-related data being exposed to the frontend, along with other areas that required better validation and access control.

The client also needed the flexibility to introduce custom promotional offers and ecommerce campaigns without disrupting the existing ordering flow.

Solution

I worked on the application at both the feature and infrastructure level, including:

  • Developed and integrated custom promotional offers and ecommerce campaigns.
  • Debugged and resolved application issues across the existing CodeIgniter codebase.
  • Identified and addressed security vulnerabilities and inappropriate frontend data exposure.
  • Improved the handling of sensitive order-related information between the backend and frontend.
  • Worked on application validation and access-control related issues.
  • Maintained and deployed updates to the production environment.
  • Managed hosting and production deployment.
  • Investigated production issues and implemented fixes without disrupting the live ecommerce platform.
  • Maintained the existing jQuery and Bootstrap-based frontend.

Key Contributions

Custom Offers

Implemented custom promotional logic to support different offers and campaigns on the ecommerce platform, allowing the business to run promotions without rebuilding the underlying shopping flow.

Security & Application Hardening

Reviewed parts of the existing application where sensitive information was unnecessarily exposed to the client side. I worked on moving sensitive processing back to the server and tightening the application's handling of order-related data.

Production Maintenance

Handled production deployments, debugging, hosting-related issues, and ongoing maintenance of the live ecommerce application.
